The Fear of the LORD: The Beginning of Knowledge
The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of knowledge: [but] fools despise wisdom and instruction Proverbs 1:7.
Many of us understand that it is important to gain knowledge. I am sure that you have heard people say something and felt, "I wish I knew that." Well the LORD desires for you (as His child) to gain His Knowledge.
The word knowledge reveals an importance of being intimately connected or acquainted with something. Additionally, it means to observe with the eyes. In order to acquire the knowledge necessary to know what God has for you, you must first fear Him.
The idea of fear presented in this passage does not suggest that you become a person knee-knocked at a God waiting to hit you upside the head when you mess-up. The thought of fear h ere renders the understanding of respect and reverence to the LORD.
Well, how do you respect and reverence the LORD? Good question to know! You respect and reverence the LORD by bringing Him what He has required and expected of you. When you gather in your local assembly, take the time to study the word of God, pray, give to a Kingdom work, and work the work that He has assigned you to do, you are bringing respect and reverence to the LORD. As a matter of fact, if you disregard these assignments and tasks, you position yourself in a place of ignorance (or darkness) pertaining to the things that you seek in life.
Beloved of God, if you are going to fairly walk in the Light of God's Word and purpose for your life, you must find yourself respecting Him. Notice it says the Fear of the LORD. Depending on how long you have received these messages, you know that I teach that when the name LORD is in all caps, it typically mentions God as Jehovah. Using the name Jehovah speaks of God's covenant with His people. So, understanding the Fear of the LORD reveals that there must be a respect for the LORD and the covenant agreement made with His people. Again, you are to operate in that covenant in your local assembly, study time, prayer time, giving to the work of the Kingdom, and in doing the work the LORD has assigned you to do. Proverbs calls this the Beginning of Knowledge.
The word Beginning means the First of its kind. It also is defined as a former state or time. I want you to understand that the LORD God is looking for you to get back to the Original intent that He has for you. Yes! There is an original intent that the LORD has for you in relationships; there is an original intent in the area of your finances; an original intent in the area of your desires, for your health, and every other area of your life. He is faithful to bring you to the place of that original intent in every area of your life if you fear Him. You should say Hallelujah!!! The LORD wants to take you Back to the Future!
Are you in search of Knowledge and Truth? Well, I encourage you to find yourself respecting the covenant of the LORD that He has been faithful to make and keep with you. I dare you to watch the LORD's Faithfulness as you do the things mentioned within this Insight. Watch Him open some doors, provide for you, and begin to FILL your life with His Glorious knowledge. Watch Him cause you to become intimately connected and acquainted with things that would have taken the average person days to comprehend. Watch Him open your ability to see or observe something from the gateway of your heart that it would have taken the average person years to see and grasp.
Yes, Beloved of God, as you operate in your local assembly, take time to study, pray, give to a Kingdom work, and do the work that the LORD has assigned you to do, the KNOWLEDGE of the LORD will be open to you. Amen...
